Before I introduce you guys to this handsome looking affordable diver – you should know that all three variants have already SOLD OUT – however more are COMING SOON in late autumn of this year.
This is the Neptune from Lorier Watches, a husband and wife team, Lorenzo & Lauren Ortega, who have created a late 1950s to 60s inspired military dive watch with a charming minimal old school style that I must admit I am quite taken with.
The Neptune is available in three variants: classic black, navy blue and black with gold gilt accents echoing models of its design era.
The Neptune actually has a pretty nice spec. This includes: a 316L Marine-grade Stainless steel case measuring 39mm in diameter by 12mm thick with a lug-to-lug measurement of 48mm.
Divers features include: a screw-down case-back and crown, a 120-click unidirectional bezel, a Superdome Plexiglas acrylic and 200 meters of water-resistance.
I know that some might be a put off by a non-Sapphire crystal but from an aesthetic point of view, acrylic gives the Neptune a more authentic feel.
All the Neptune’s hands and markers are applied with blue-glowing BGW lume. Powering it is an SHII NH35A automatic movement.
Finally, a 316L marine-grade Stainless steel bracelet with: solid end-links and solid fully-articulated links is secured by screw pins to 20mm lugs.
The Neptune has a price of 389USD of which a portion will be donated to OCEANA, an organization dedicated to protecting the World’s oceans – kudos!
Thoughts? The first thing that strikes you is its sheer simplicity then the harmonious style, the old school oversized crown and crystal are a bonus. Very nice - what do you think?
