It will be used by the highly trained members of the elite British military diving team, who will wear the watch as they identify and destroy mines and other explosives.
These guys do a fantastic job – I’ve seen them in action as I’m sure many other fellow Brits may have living or spending time on the coast, as even today World War II mines need to be dealt with.
Mine clearance divers work all over the world, in shallow and deep waters down to depths of 60 meters. Such a tough, physically demanding job requires top-notch equipment. I’m sure that that the new Royal Navy Clearance Diver LE will serve them well as a vital support tool!
The watch has a 46mm Stainless steel case with a screw-down crown that helps guarantee water-resistance to 500 meters. It’s also fitted with a unidirectional rotational divers bezel – an essential function for any diver.
Its tough, scratch-resistant Sapphire crystal is domed on both sides and has an anti-reflective coating on the inside to reduce glare underwater.
The watch is powered by an automatic movement with a sub-seconds function at 9 o’clock (another essential feature – showing the watch is running) and a date at 6 o’clock. Stamped with the Royal Navy Clearance Divers insignia on the back, the watch is a fine tribute to the elite unit’s brave members.
It comes on a Stainless steel bracelet with a divers safety clasp. Just 100 will be made, and they will be exclusively available to past and present members of the elite naval unit.
