PROMETHEUS Poseidon 350ATM OceanicTime SE

By TLex OceanicTime has once again partnered with PROMETHEUS Watches to produce a very limited run of special edition avant-garde dive watches.

It is the 350 atm, POSEIDON that has received the minimalist OceanicTime treatment this time around; last time we made a stunning sleek black version of the MantaRay, so I wanted to create something a little bit different with the Poseidon.

When it comes to design, something that I love is contrast. It helps accentuate key design elements while creating something that is distinct and eye catching.

If you take a look at the Poseidon 350ATM OceanicTime SE you’ll see that the contrast theme has been played quite heavily, a deliberate decision to create something that will (hopefully) be visually dramatic.

The main case has a black DLC coating while its components, the bezel, caseback, crown and HEV have all been left in steel. Even the screwed-lug pins are in steel, so that all the key-features of the dive watch have been highlighted for our delectation.

The top of the bezel has a Sapphire crystal inlay; on the black timing-ring below, only the white triangular 12hr marker remains; the origins of which date back to the mid-70s, when the special 3H edition of the Blancpain FF was created for the German Naval Combat divers who only required a single luminous marker for timing missions / dives. BTW this will be lumed.

The black of the bezel cuts a clean contrast against the brushed steel of the dial, itself boasting: a matte black hour hand, matte silver minute and seconds hands and polished indexes – all filled with black SLN. Of course some luminosity has been sacrificed to achieve the desired effect.

When you compare the OceanicTime SE dial with the REGULAR Poseidon, you’ll notice that not only has the rehaut been removed but we have also removed all of the unnecessary text and gone for a wider handset - reinforcing the watch’s sense of drama and minimalism.

Only the Prometheus logo, the OceanicTime diver icon and a single line of black text with the watch’s water-resistance remain.

In addition to the aesthetic enhancements, the standard movement has been upgraded to a Swiss made ETA 2824-2. Naturally I opted for no date.

Finally the Poseidon 350ATM OceanicTime SE is presented on a brushed Stainless steel bracelet. A special divers clasp in black DLC signed with the OceanicTime divers icon completes the look!

Only 30 pieces are available priced 950USD incl. shipping. VAT will be added within the EU. Please contact PROMETHEUS to reserve yours. Expected delivery is in mid-2016. Thanks for looking!
