Sjöö Sandström LANDSORT 459M

By TLex Lying 22 kilometers southeast of Landsort island in the Stockholm Archipelago, at a depth of 459 meters - is the Baltic Sea's deepest point, the Landsort Depth, the namesake and inspiration for the wonderful Landsort 459M, a stunning Scandinavian diving instrument from Swedish watchmakers, Sjöö Sandström.



The Landsort was designed by two Stockholm designers, Pontus Frankenstein and Christian Halleröd, in close collaboration with a team of watchmakers from Sjöö Sandström under the leadership of their master-watchmaker, Niclas Höglund.



Its 44mm Stainless steel case has been designed with a totally round shape, mimicking the look of an old-school professional divers instruments. But it’s its generous winding-crown and large protruding crown guard that add so much charm and character to the Landsort. The CG can be placed either on the right side of the case or destroy-style on the left.



Further divers features include: a unidirectional rotational divers bezel with an elapsed dive-time scale, a Sapphire crystal and a water-resistance of 459m, which relates to the deepest point in the Baltic Sea.

The dial, which is available in black, grey or white, has been designed according to the demands of naval diver with large luminous hands and markers.



Powering the Landsort 459M is SSG6 caliber self-winding movement with: hours, minutes, sweep seconds, date corrector (D2 and Worldtimer), stop second device and 21 jewles beating at 28.800 vibrations per hour, 4Hz. Its decorated with an engraved logotype on its rotor. The Worldtimer model is with an additional hour hand.

Each Sjöö Sandström timepiece is assembled by hand and then meticulously tested (one by one) before its release from their workshop in Stockholm. It had long been a dream and a plan at Sjöö Sandström to produce a divers watch, the Landsort 459M is the realization of that dream!
