KIVA Halo CHRONOGRAPH [rugged modernity]

By TLex Introducing US-based luxury watch manufacturer, KIVA, who have produced a new line of 300m mechanical chronographs that have been beautifully yet ruggedly engineered for your wrist!

Let me explain in more detail - after a rigorous 4 year development process; starting from a simple 2D sketch, to a 3D CAD rendering, to a 10:1 scale clay mockup, to a production-ready prototype, the Kiva HALO Chronograph is finally available and in a very Limited Edition of just 15 pieces.

The HALO was designed with a modern yet functional style. If you look carefully at its case you can see that there are plenty of really nice contemporary design elements. In particular the chrono-pushers, the Knurled and Chamfered winding crown and the deeply chiseled caseback are favorites of mine; while the left side the case is just as eye-catching.

Although its design was conceived in the USA; engineering and manufacturing of the Halo took place in Switzerland. Its 46mm x 17mm case has been 100% CNC manufactured in Grade 5 Titanium and comes with either a combination polished and brushed finish or with a 6-micron-thick black DLC (Diamond Like Carbon) coating.

While the KIVA Halo is not exclusively a dive watch, it does function as an extremely capable diver with a 120-click unidirectional rotational timing-bezel with a 60min dive-time scale, and 300 meters water-resistance thanks to a 3mm-thick anti-reflective-treated (front and back) Sapphire crystal and a screwdown exhibition caseback and crown.

The Sapphire crystal exhibition caseback affords a view of the HALO's Swiss mechanical automatic movement, the KIVA 248 (base ETA Valjoux 7750) with 25 jewels, a beat-rate of 2528,800vph and a power-reserve of 42 hours. Its functions include: Hours, Minutes, Small Seconds, Day, Magnified Date and Chronograph.

The Chronograph is with a 30-min counter at 12 o'clock with a 4-min tachymetric accumulation, a 12hr counter at 6 and central chronograph seconds.
