TOURBY Lawless 42

By TLex Presenting the new LAWLESS 42, Tourby Watches’ second divers model with the name ‘Lawless’ – made in collaboration with professional diver and dive watch enthusiast, Brendan Lawless.

The Lawless 42 project took more than two years to complete, however it is finally available for delivery as of February 2015. The construction of the watch case and its steel bracelet were completely designed by Tourby Watches and were finished by hand in their workshops in Germany.

The Lawlwss 42 case of course measures 42mm in diameter but with a thickness of just 13mm and lug to lug measurement of 50.5mm. It available with two different finishes that include: an all-over matte brushed finish or a part brushed finish with polished sides.

Divers features include: a 3.5mm thick domed Sapphire crystal with an anti-reflective coating on its inside, a signed screwdown crown, a 120-click type unidirectional rotational divers bezel with a ceramic inlay plus dive-time scale and a specially designed rubber divers strap, made to perfectly fit the watchcase while closely hugging the wearer’s wrist.

The Lawless 42 is pressure resistant up to 50 atm, the equivalent to 500 meters of water-resistance in according to DIN 8310. It is anti-magnetic according to DIN standard 8309and shock-proof according to DIN standard 8308.

The dial has been made for Tourby by one of Germany’s best dial manufactures and is with hand-set applied appliqués and Swiss made white and black lacquered hands – all are with Swiss BGW9 SuperLuminova, which emits a blue light.

Powering the new Lawless 42 is a Swiss made ETA 2824-2 automatic movement with - élaboré level of quality, finely crafted, rhodium-plated, Geneva cut, perlage, blued screws and precision-adjusted in Tourby’s workshops to 5 positions.

the caseback: It is uncommon in the watch industry to apply such an intricate design into Stainless steel using a process that is usually found on much softer brass coins. The deep engraving of the 3D image gave Tourby’s case manufacturers a difficult task with extremely high costs to produce such a complicated design.

the bracelet: Using only a 3.1mm thick steel band saves a lot of weight, without compromising its robustness or functionality. Although the bracelet relies on a well-known style Tourby have completely redesigned it offering maximum comfort. The width of the steel bracelet tapers from 22mm to 18mm at the clasp.

The thickness of the links is reduced from 3.5 mm to 3.3 mm then to 3.1 mm, so that the bracelet better suits the 13mm thick case. Standard bracelets which are straight and have the same thickness throughout are simple to manufacture, this makes the Tourby steel band more than twice as high with the associated tooling costs.

Prices which include free worldwide shipping are as follows: 1100euro with rubber strap, 1200euro with standard 5-link bracelet 22/22 mm, 1250euro with special 3-link bracelet 22/18 mm. More info. can found HERE.

Interested parties should CONTACT Tourby Watches directly. If you’re in the vicinity of Hagen, Germany, you can make an appointment to drop by the Tourby where sample watches are available for viewing. The Lawless 42 is available in a limited quantity of 500 pieces.
