HEINRICH Taucher

Crowdfunded dive watch projects are hardly thin on the ground nor are those that are inspired by bygone eras, but credit where credit is due. Here’s one that is more than worthy of our attention.

It comes from a new independent, German-based watch brand, HEINRICH who have just launched the Taucher (German for diver) on Kickstarter.

The vintage inspired diver’s watch with its unique design aims to bring back all the charm and vibes of the 70s to your wrists.

The Taucher with its modest 41mm diameter case has been designed to suit most wrists. The watch has an angular design that harks back to that era.

While its oversized, knurled crown emphasizes its intent as a tool-diver all the while allowing for a higher degree of ergonomics.

The watch’s 200m water-resistant, Stainless steel case is fitted with a double domed Sapphire crystal once again recalling its vintage inspiration.

Its unidirectional, 120-click diver’s bezel boasts a Sapphire inlay allowing you to precisely calculate your dive time.

Meanwhile its indexes, hands and bezel markings are applied with Swiss SuperLumiNova BGW9 allowing for good readability in the dark.

The HEINRICH Taucher is powered by a Swiss Made automatic movement, the Sellita SW 200-1.

The founder, Wolfgang Heinrich was born in the 70s and grew up in the 80s (just like someone else you might know, not a million miles from here). Being a Gen Xer, he looked back fondly to the good old days –

not only to the movies, cars and music, but also to the watch designs of that era which he is passionate about.

This is how the idea to design and create unique, high-quality timepieces with vintage vibes was born. Being a recreational scuba diver and fascinated by diver’s watches of the past, his debut model was naturally a dive watch.

Living in Stuttgart (southwest Germany) and close to the historical watchmaking city of Pforzheim, he works closely with traditional watchmakers with decades of experience in the local watch industry.

Btw, the very cool, crowned-lion, logo found on the - dial, case-back, clasp and crown is based on the Baden-Württemberg coat of arms.

This is the hometown of the Heinrich brand while the Taucher itself was designed in Stuttgart and built in Pforzheim.

Thoughts? A German lion king with vintage appeal; a dive watch with plenty of nice touches and details, which is always a good sign that someone cares; the green one is a beauty! What do you think?
