That’s why this new numbered Limited Edition SM Diver 300M James Bond is made from high-tech, platinum-gold alloy.
There was sweet FA in the PR from Omega, so I loving researched that sh!t for you. Platinum-gold, is an alloy consisting of 90% platinum and 10% gold.
I assume Omega is using the good stuff, a recently (just a couple of years ago) specially engineered platinum-gold alloy believed to be the world’s most wear-resistant metal.
It's supposed be 100 times more durable than high-strength steel, making it the first alloy that can be classified in the same terms of toughness alongside diamond and sapphire.
It is used for electronics such as those in harsh environments such as space where it is used for satellite components, so the perfect material for a 007 watch.
Omega has been equipping James Bond with a Seamaster timepiece since GoldenEye in 1995. This special new release proudly celebrates that partnership, providing yet another new addition to Omega’s 007 collection.
The watch’s 42mm case has been crafted in platinum-gold, with a platinum-gold plate on its side, individually engraved with its Numbered Edition number. The same space-age material has been used for the polished-brushed buckle of the watch’s black leather strap.
Further special features of the watch include: a black ceramic bezel inlay with a platinum dive-time scale in positive relief, as well as a black enamel dial, with the JB franchise’s iconic spiraling gun barrel design in 18K white gold.
As part of the JP collection that was launched last year, this watch also includes a covertly hidden number 50 within the SuperLumiNova of the 10 o’clock index - a nod to the 50th anniversary of the James Bond film On Her Majesty's Secret Service.
You can find a 007 logo at 7 o’clock on the white enamel minute track, as well as 18K white gold features, including the hands, indexes as well as the Bond family coat-of-arms at 12 o’clock.
The watch’s rear end is as equally pretty as its face. There you can find a second Bond family coat-of-arms, which has been laser-engraved and filled with platinum on the sapphire crystal case-back - completed by the finest detailed hand-engraved finishing.
On the other side of the sapphire glass, you will be able spy Omega’ Co-Axial Master Chronometer Calibre 8807, certified at the highest standards of precision, chronometric performance and magnetic-resistant to boot.
And for those who manage to get hold of this Seamaster Diver 300M James Bond Numbered Edition, it comes presented in its own Globe-Trotter suitcase, bound by Bond-NATO-inspired straps.
Inside, an additional black rubber strap is included. Swiss MSRP of just shy of 52’500 CHF!
Thoughts? I just remembered that we’re still going to have to wait until November until we can see JB in action again. Well, that’s if you can even go or even want to go to a crowded movie theatre. I suspect, many of us won’t see No Time to Die until its digital release, and God knows when that will be?!
An utterly ridiculous watch btw – ridiculously cool, ridiculously expensive, too. But f#ck it, why not? What do you think – this or a new car?
