In 2012, Captain Poindexter tragically died in a jet-skiing accident in Florida leaving his wife and two sons behind. One son, Samuel Pheiffer suffers from severe autism and needs 24 hour care. BALL Watch will contribute a portion of the sales of each watch towards the Samuel Pheiffer Poindexter Special Needs Trust to assist in his care.
The Engineer Hydrocarbon SPACEMASTER Captain Poindexter is a Limited Edition of 1000 pieces. There are two dial versions: Ref. DM2036A-S5CA-BK black and Ref. DM2036A-P5CA-BE blue. Features of the watch include an automatic BALL RR1102 COSC certified chronometer with hours, minutes, sweep seconds, day and date.
Divers features include: an illuminated unidirectional rotational bezel, a 4mm thick anti-reflective treated Sapphire crystal, shock resistance to 7,500Gs, anti-magnetic to 12,000A/m, and water resistance to 333m/1,100ft. The Stainless steel watch case, which measures 41.5mm Ø x 16.1mm thick also features BALL's patented crown protection system.
The watch dial boasts 80 micro gas tubes for night reading capability. These are on its hour and minute markers and hour, minute and second hands. The watches are presented in a special box-set with a model of the Space Shuttle Discovery. They come on a tapered Stainless steel bracelet with a patented folding buckle and divers extension system plus an additional rubber divers strap with a standard buckle.
