SEIKO Prospex Automatic DIVER’S 200m [70s TURTLES?]

Seiko nerds throw us a bone, please cos’ I haven’t got a Scooby Doo what vintage refs. these two new Seikos are based on or indeed what nickname they go by??

BTW here're the new KING TURTLES.

I would say that they are based on 1970s / early 80s Turtles and by the looks the design remain faithful in pretty much every detail.

The crown guard is far more pronounced (at least to the casual observer) plus there is the seconds hand with its lumed pointer and red dot.

These are Japanese refs. SBDC109 & SBDC111 - hold tight for the non-JDM refs. which should be along shortly.

The watches get Stainless steel cases with Seiko’s famous DiaShield hardening treatment. The cases are fitted with domed Sapphire crystals and are water-resistant to 200m.

Measurements are as follows: H46.55mm × W42.65mm × D13.15mm. SBDC109 gets a classic black dial and bezel inlay while SBDC111 has a sort of pea green colorway.

Powering these turtles is; a 24 jewel, Seiko automatic 6R35 caliber with an accuracy of +25 to -15 seconds per day.

Japanese MSRPs are as follows: SBDC109 which comes on a Stainless steel DiaShield bracelet is 140,000 JPY+tAX while SBDC111 which comes on black Si is 120,000 JPY+tax.
