SEIKO Prospex Diver's URBAN SAFARI Capsule COLLECTION

Can you hear the call of the wild? It’s about time to come out of lockdown and dive into the concrete jungle with the new Prospex Urban Safari Capsule Collection.

Seiko has just dropped a new Prospex collection, a continuation of their 2018 Prospex STREET SERIES, inspired by the OG 1975 Seiko diver’s.

The collection gets 2x automatic, mechanical Tuna Cans as well as a pair of Solar-Powered ARNIE-DIGI chronographs.

First up are Prospex refs. SRPE29 with its khaki-sand colorway and SRPE31 in grey. These are powered by Seiko Japan Caliber 4R36 automatic mechanical movements –

which are housed in a 42.3mm Stainless steel case with a hard-plastic shrouding, Hardlex crystal, unidirectional diver’s bezel and 200 meters of water-resistance.

Next up are the Arni Digis, Prospex refs. SNJ029 in black with old tritium hands and markers, and a khaki-sand strap; and SNJ031 with its all-over khaki-green colorway.

These two models are descendants of 1982, ref. H558 famously worn by in Arnold Schwarzenegger in a couple of big 80s films, namely Commando and The Predator.

These two refs. are powered by a Seiko Japan Caliber H851 Solar Chronograph movement with an ani-digi display.

These get much larger 47.8mm Stainless cases, also with: 200m, Hardlex crystals, uni-diver’s bezels and hard-plastic shrouding’s harking back to the OG 1975 diver’s.

Thoughts? These are pretty damn cool with one exception ref. SRPE29; I’m not entirely convinced by the textured rubber strap in khaki -

I know it’s not just my warped mind cos’ I got a second opinion but it’s a little too reminiscent of something unmentionable, don’t ya’ think?
