ULYSSE NARDIN Marine Torpilleur Military BRONZE & KHAKI

WARNING non-diver alert; actually the only warning this new collection from UN should come with is a health warning for your salivary glands; very nice!

UN has enlisted the first two of many new recruits due to join the ranks of their expanding Marine TORPILLEUR Military squadron.

Presented in military themed black and khaki or nautically themed bronze and midnight blue, the limited editions of 300 pieces of each pay tribute to UN’s military heritage.

The full black version is in black DLC with a black dial, touches of khaki on the indexes and a khaki "trellis fabric" strap while the bronze version is with a midnight blue dial and a leather band.

UN’s choice of bronze makes a lot of sense for a brand that has been so heavily steeped in maritime history, as the alloy has been widely used throughout naval history.

Non-magnetic, bronze is highly resistant to corrosion thanks to oxidation process, which forms a protective oxide surface layer once stabilized.

To avoid the risk of allergies, the Military Bronze model features a stainless-steel case-back.

Water-resistant up to 50 meters and stamped with the iconic Torpilleur torpedo ship on the case-back, both editions are housed in a cases measuring 44mm in diameter.

They are equipped with COSC-certified manufacture movements, the UN-118 which boasts a silicon anchor escapement and a power-reserve of approximately 60 hours.

Special features include: small seconds, located at 6 o’clock, embellished with the individual number in red.

The model, engraved with the initials C.W. ("Chronometer Watch") proudly displays its reference to military chronometers of the past.

MSRPs are as follows: 1187-320LE/63 (bronze) 8,900USD or 1183-320LE_BLACK 7,900USD.

Thoughts? The perfect marriage of tradition and modernity; the Khaki Edition (particularly) has a sensibility that really speaks to the latent refined gent hidden inside my designer hoodie which I’m sure it would pair very nicely with.

What do you think?
