ORION Watch CALAMITY

Here’s a new offering from Seattle based micro-brewery, Orion Watch whose debut diver, the curiously named, Calamity aims to distinguish itself from its peers by being exceptionally slender with an ultra-sleek profile that would make a dress watch blush.



Funny thing is, I don’t actually know its exact thickness but it’s gotta’ be sub 12mm, right? I took a second look – yup, it’s a mere 10.5mm thick tapering from 11.3mm.



So for a 200m+ water-resistant watch with a turning diver’s bezel this is pretty impressive. About that depth-rating of 666ft, so I guess this isn’t a watch for the superstitious.



Is this why the name hints at things going awry for its wearer? I hope not!



Presented in 3 colorways that include: black, blue and my favorite, drab olive green, the Calamity has a modest 40mm 316L Stainless steel case with a combination of brushed and polished bevels and edges.



Its diver’s features include a ceramic diver’s bezel, screw-down case-back and crown, a double-domed Sapphire crystal and 666ft of water-resistance.



The dial is with applied indices with polished edges, and polished accents on the hands – both of which are lumed with BGW9. Power comes from a Swiss ETA 2892. Pre-Order price is 1495USD.



Thoughts? The green variant AKA the Green Goblin would look pretty mean on a NATO.



Overall I like the watches, some interesting quirks (such as big F-off seconds hand), lovely details and it’s always good to have something comfortable on the wrist. What do you think?
