BOREALIS Sea Hawk 1500M

By TLex This is the new Sea Hawk 1500M Automatic Diver manufactured by Borealis Watch Company of Portugal. It joins a family of Borealis divers watches that includes; the Francis Drake, the Sea Diver and the Seafarer. These will shortly be joined by the Scout Sniper 300M.



The Borealis Sea Hawk features a BGW9 lumed ceramic bezel that is available in 3 distinct colors: black, blue or green, a double domed Sapphire crystal, a 316L Stainless steel case and a high quality 316L Stainless steel bracelet with a quick adjusting divers clasp.



The Borealis Sea Hawk is not equipped with a Helium Escape Valve as many modern divers are these days. However, Borealis say that the watch has still been built to saturation diving specifications.



The answer lies in its case back. By using screws to secure it to the Borealis Sea Hawk, it works as a compressor case so that the increased water pressure makes it more and more water-resistant the deep it goes.



In a SAT diving decompression a chamber Helium molecules might be forced into the case however, when the atmospheric pressure starts to decrease the caseback (secured with screws) accommodates the pressure differential making it possible for Helium trapped inside the watch to easily escape into the atmosphere without compromising the watch in any way.



The Borealis Sea Hawk is powered by a Seiko NH36 automatic movement with 24 jewels and 21600 bph (OEM version of Seiko 4R36) manufactured by Seiko . It is was chosen by Borealis as it is a very reliable and robust movement. Its features include a quick date correction and hacking seconds.
