FORTIS Marinemaster B-42 DIVER [on criminal minds]

By TLex Looking for a rugged water-resistant watch that can hold up in the field? Joe Mantegna, who stars as FBI Supervisory Special Agent David Rossi on Criminal Minds, the American police-procedural TV series relies on his Fortis Marinemaster when he’s solving crimes and profiling dangerous criminals! Part of Mantegna’s wardrobe on the show includes the Fortis 648.10.12 K, a model from Fortis' B-42 Divers collection.

Established in the 40's, the B-42 Marinemaster is one of the most prestigious Fortis model ranges. Features of the watch’s three-part construction, 42mm Stainless steel case include: Fortis’ signature broad fluted rotational divers bezel, a double coated anti-reflective Sapphire crystal and the Fortis crown system, which although is not a ‘screwdown’ type, is said improve on the latest Swiss water-resistance technology just as if it were!

Some of us have reservations about the security of non-screwdown crowns, however the Fortis crown system has successfully passed extreme testing in vacuum and under specially pressurized conditions in seawater thus insuring its tested water-resistance to 200 m / 20 bar. The caseback is a screwdown type and features an embossed submarine motif. The watch’s dial is completely covered with a luminous white coating that glows blue in the dark. It is powered by an ETA 2836-2 automatic movement with a day / date function.

  1. The information about the luminous dial is not correct, there are two B-42s with white dials that are getting mixed up even by professional sellers.

    1) The white version of the B-42 Marinemaster reads 'B-42 Marinemaster Automatic' on the dial, has a silver bezel and the luminous dial with no lume on the hands and the hour index markers.

    2) The B-42 Diver - the watch discussed and pictured here - reads 'B-42 Automatic 200m' on the dial and has a black bezel, luminous tips on the hands and luminous points on the hour index markers. It does NOT have a luminous dial.
