EBEL Discovery BRONZE Ltd. ED

EBEL invite you to get your patina on with their new Limited Edition diver, the Discovery Bronze, the latest big name Swiss brand to adopt BRONZE.

You could say that it’s taken Ebel (who started life in 1911) more than a hundred years to finally dip their toes into the bronze diver pool which they have done tentatively (as most do) with a Limited Edition series.

This is the Ebel Discovery Bronze Limited Edition of 250 pieces – it features a 41mm in diameter by 11mm high Bronze case. This has a Sapphire crystal with anti-reflective treatment on its inside.

On the reverse side of the case there’s a hypoallergenic Titanium case-back with a Sapphire display window affording a view of the ubiquitous yet undeniably reliable, ETA 2824-2 auto.

The Bronze case has a water-resistance of 200 meters and is fitted with a Bronze screw-down crown and unidirectional diver’s bezel. The case-back is secured by 7x screws.

As with any Bronze case, the tone will subtly change over time, developing its own unique a patina.

In addition to the Bronze case the watch has a uniquely crafted distressed-effect brown or blue galvanic dial not too dissimilar to CW’s C60 Trident Bronze Pro 600 OMBRÉ.

The ial is with diamond-polished 5N rose gold-plated hour and minute hands and indexes. There’s a date aperture at 6H with the Discovery name above in orange plus a matching tipped seconds hand.

Finally this new Bronze offering comes on either a black or brown distressed calf leather strap with hand stitching. It has an MSRP of 2’500USD.

Thoughts? I’m kinda’ lukewarm on this; it isn’t horrible by any means, but it simply doesn't speak to me. What do you think?

  2. The design just seems tired...copy cat...for the
price there are many alternatives..try comparing this to OWC diver...a real dive watch..and not enhanced jewelry
